Prerequisite:

No formal previous health and safety knowledge is required.  However, NEBOSH recommends students to have an underpinning knowledge of health and safety issues. 

English language skill level 6 or higher in IELTS, or equivalent is recommended, but not mandatory, for those whom the first language is not English.

Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the UK’s Health and Safety Regulator, have joined forces and developed this new one day Health and Safety qualification for managers, senior business leaders or employees who are aspiring to this position.

The interactive, thought provoking content shows how leaders can influence health and safety performance and culture through their actions and behaviours.

It highlights the moral, legal and financial reasons for good Health and Safety Leadership. It offers guidance on the key areas to focus on to make a difference and how leaders can become better advocates and influencers in relation to Health and Safety.

Examinations: IG1 Unit is an Open Book Examination (OBE) online conducted by NEBOSH & IG2 Unit is a Risk Assessment Report to be submitted by email.

This course involves following three units on applicable to any work environment based on the guidance issued by International Labour Organisation (ILO):

• Unit IG1: Management of Health and Safety

NEBOSH and Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the UK’s Health and Safety Regulator, developed this Process Safety Management (PSM) qualification taking the knowledge of best practices applied widely for process industries such as oil and gas, refinery, chemicals, plastics, pharmaceuticals, and food etc.

This qualification has been designed to give process safety knowledge and understanding to managers, supervisors and safety professionals to allow them to manage their process safety responsibilities.

Course Duration: 4 Days

This course is suitable for supervisors and managers in Chemical, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceutical, Food, Petrochemical, Refinery and similar high hazard work environment. 

NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management is designed to provide a sound breadth of knowledge that will allow you to contribute to the effective management of process safety risks to prevent catastrophic accidents and near misses associated with loss of containment of energy or dangerous substances such as chemicals and hydrocarbons.

Course Outline

The qualification covers a range of issues affecting process industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, plastics and pharmaceuticals under 4 elements below.

• Process Safety Leadership
• Management of Process Risk
• Process Safety Hazard Control
• Fire Protection and Emergency Response.

Assessment

Computer based examination is conducted by NEBOSH.  Learner will get 24 hour window to complete 90 minutes examination consists of 40 multiple choice questions.  Score of minimum 60% is required to pass (ie, 24 correct answers out of 40 questions).  

Certification

Those who complete the course and achieved minimum pass in the examination will get certificate from NEBOSH.

The NEBOSH Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety covers the principles of process safety management in the oil and gas industries. The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international industry standards.

Course Duration: 5 days + Exam 1 day (2 hours written)

Course Details:

Course consists of the following elements:

People throughout the world with fire safety responsibilities at work, such as Managers, supervisors and employees throughout the world take the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (IFC).

Holders of NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety are entitled to Associate Membership of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Membership (AIIRSM).

This qualification is approved by Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at SCQF Level 6 with 5 SCQF credit points.

SCQF Level 6 is comparable to Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) Level 3 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

• Managing fire Safety
• Principles of fire and explosion
• Fuel, oxygen and ignition sources and control measures
• Fire protection of buildings
• Safety of people in the event of fire
• Fire risk assessment

Course Assessment:

The qualification is divided into two units, each of which is assessed separately:

• Unit FSC1 – Open Book Examination (24 hours)
• Unit FSC2 – A practical assessment to be carried out in your workplace (or other workplace) and submitted by email to SETA.

Score of minimum 45% in FSC1 Unit and Pass in FSC2 Practical Unit is required to attain full qualification.

An introduction to Safety and Health for Supervisors and Managers in all types of organisations who are required to manage efficiently and effectively the activities for which they are responsible without endangering their workforce, other people, the environment or the physical assets of the organisation and in accordance with the Safety Policy of the organisation and Health & Safety Legislation

The course teaches the manager to apply good management principles of safety and health as part of total management strategy. The course is available as an open or in-company course.
