NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (IGC)

Achieve recognition for your health and safety skills and knowledge anywhere in the world with the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.

This is offered as an open course at a variety of venues overseas or it can be run in-company. It can be run as a two-week block; alternatively, it can be scheduled as two one-week blocks.

No formal health and safety qualification is required.

Course Details:

This course involves following three units on applicable to any work environment based on the guidance issued by International Labour Organisation (ILO):

  • Unit IGC1: Management of International Health and Safety
  • Unit GC2: Control of International Workplace Hazards
  • Unit GC3: Health and Safety Practical Application.

Who can benefit from this course?

Managers, supervisors and employees throughout the world take the NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) because it gives them the skills and know-how to fulfil their Health and Safety responsibilities following International Labour Organisation (ILO) in any country and in any kind of organisation.

Holders of NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technical membership (Tech IOSH) of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.

NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management (PSM)

Achieve recognition for your health and safety skills and knowledge anywhere in the world with the NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management.

NEBOSH and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the UK’s Health and Safety Regulator, developed this Process Safety Management (PSM) qualification specifically for process industries.

SETA offers this qualification as an open course in the UK and international locations or it can be run in-company to suit client requirement.

Course Duration: 4 Days + 1 Examination (40 multiple choice questions in 90 minutes)

Who can benefit from this course?

This course is suitable for supervisors and managers in Chemical, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceutical, Food, Petrochemical, Refinery and similar high hazard work environment. 

This qualification provides process safety knowledge and understanding of recognised industrial practices to managers, supervisors and safety professionals to allow them to manage their process safety responsibilities to prevent catastrophic accidents and near misses associated with loss of containment of energy or dangerous substances such as chemicals and hydrocarbons.

Prerequisite

No formal previous health and safety knowledge is required.  However, NEBOSH recommends students to have an underpinning knowledge of health and safety issues and may already have studied one of NEBOSH’s qualifications.

English language skill level 6 or higher in IELTS, or equivalent is recommended, but not mandatory, for those whom the first language is not English.

Course Outline

The qualification covers a range of issues affecting process industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, plastics and pharmaceuticals under 4 elements below.

  • Process Safety Leadership
  • Management of Process Risk
  • Process Safety Hazard Control
  • Fire Protection and Emergency Response.

Assessment

Assessment examination consists of 90 minutes duration with 40 multiple choice questions.  Score of minimum 60% is required to pass (ie, 24 correct answers out of 40 questions).  

Certification

Those who complete the course and achieved minimum pass in the examination will get certificate from NEBOSH.

NEBOSH International Oil & Gas Certificate (IOGC)

The NEBOSH Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety covers the principles of process safety management in the oil and gas industries. The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international industry standards.

Course Duration: 5 days + Exam 1 day (2 hours written)

What kind of people take the NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety?

IOSH Managing Safely (IOSH-MS)

An introduction to Safety and Health for Supervisors and Managers in all types of organisations who are required to manage efficiently and effectively the activities for which they are responsible without endangering their workforce, other people, the environment or the physical assets of the organisation and in accordance with the Safety Policy of the organisation and Health & Safety Legislation

The course teaches the manager to apply good management principles of safety and health as part of total management strategy. The course is available as an open or in-company course.

Course Duration: 4 Days
